The Warriors surprised people this week by refusing the arrival of Dwight Howard, while their interior sector is far from being solid in appearance. The franchise, however, sees things differently, to the point that another position is being targeted. This is what we know.
As expected, the Warriors fully intend to sign another player before the season officially resumes. Just not in the advertised position. The Californian franchise nevertheless increased its meetings with pivots during the week, including Dwight Howard, but it did not find the right fit. Result ? No player signed in the squad and a change of direction according to recent rumors.
New position targeted for the Warriors
While Shams Charania revealed the sad news for Dwight Howard, Anthony Slater took it upon himself to announce that the Dubs had something else planned. Rather than recruiting a position 5 to boost their racket, the leaders decided to target a winger instead. No name released in the media yet, but it is an important change, which can be explained by Golden State’s confidence in its interior sector.
An extra wing has become the camp priority for Warriors. This is their frontcourt: Draymond Green, Kevon Looney, Dario Saric, Trayce Jackson-Davis and Usman Garuba on a two-way. TJD has impressed since arriving and organization views Garuba as young depth piece with upside. https://t.co/irnP2LVMNX

At least we understand better why the Warriors decided not to sign Howard. Agree with it or not, the team believes it has the pieces to contend with the competition in the paint. And the supporters approve.
Garuba was a better upgrade than Howard! He is younger, can rebound, & is a good passer for a big!! I knew this was going to happen!!

Intelligent
The Warriors will not sign a center, at least not immediately. The franchise prefers a new winger to improve its roster, even if the lack of size may worry observers. We must hope for the front office that it does not regret this choice.
