The transfer deadline is fast approaching, and at the same time, discussions between the franchises are intensifying as are the rumors. The latest concerns a star point guard from the Eastern Conference, who would be on the verge of being traded very soon.

As the trade deadline approaches, talks multiply and rumors proliferate. The calendar year is about to end, but franchises will have until February 8, 2024 to integrate new players into their team or remove unwanted ones. According to some rumors, change is in the works in the East, and an All-Star point guard could then leave.

Indeed, the Hawks, 11th in this conference with a record of 12 victories and 17 defeats, are expected to part ways with an important member of the workforce in the person of Dejounte Murray. Several teams would thus be interested in the exchange, but the managers would be ready to wait until the deadline to study the options that will be available to them according to Marc Stein.

A leader soon transferred by the Hawks?

Several teams I spoke with in Orlando believe the Hawks will explore their options for a Dejounte Murray trade over the next six weeks, leading up to the February 8 trade deadline.

The 27-year-old leader has a fairly versatile profile, which would arouse the desire of several franchises, as the American journalist recently explained.

Drafted in 29th position in 2016 by the Spurs, Dejounte Murray was transferred to the Hawks in 2022, he who had become a reference in his position due to his offensive and defensive qualities. Indeed, he was named to the second All-Defensive Team in 2018, and finished as the league’s best interceptor in 2022, in addition to being selected for the All-Star Game that same year.

Although his behavior is sometimes criticized, the 27-year-old also had a good season on an individual level with an average of 20.3 points, accompanied by 5.4 assists. In short, the latter has a style of play which could be in line with that of many teams. So, would a return to San Antonio be possible? In any case, that’s what some fans on Reddit are hoping for.

@GGezpzMuppy : I heard the Spurs need a point guard

@sstewart1617 : It would be hilarious to trade him to the Spurs, but they wouldn’t get all their Draft picks back, that’s all I’m saying.

Dejounte Murray could no longer be a member of the Hawks by February 8 according to rumors, the latter would no longer fit into the plans of his technical staff. However, some fans would obviously be delighted to see the star leader arrive in their franchise.
