F1: Disaster for Verstappen, he comes out of silence

This Friday, Max Verstappen was not at all reassured during the first two free practice sessions for the Singapore Grand Prix. 3rd in EL1, the Dutch champion only finished 8th in EL2. A more than unusual result for the Red Bull driver, who spoke about his performance of the day. For Verstappen, this disappointment is completely unexpected.

Author of 9 consecutive victories, Max Verstappen hopes to continue its momentum this weekend at Singapore. But at Monza, during the Grand Prix ofItaly two weeks ago, the Dutchman had already noticed the rise in power of Ferrari. While the first two free practice sessions took place this Friday, “Super Max” experienced some difficulties. Dominated by Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz during FP1, the reigning double world champion sank in FP2, finishing 8th.

“It’s much worse than we expected”

“A little worse than expected today”declares Max Verstappen after these tests in comments relayed by Motorsport.com. “I had a lot of trouble with the balance of the car. We tried a lot of things in FP2, some worked, some didn’t, but we never really managed to get it all together, so there are a lot of things to sort out tonight. We don’t understand some things, so that’s what we have to look at. We will of course try to progress, but the gap is quite significant. Ferrari is very fast. I think on our side it’s a lot worse than we expected.”.

“We seem to be having a bit of trouble with the rear of the car”

Same story on his teammate’s side Sergio Perez. “I think there are some interesting things happening that we need to resolve [ces problèmes] by tomorrow. We seem to be struggling a bit with the rear of the car, especially in FP2, so there’s a lot to analyze. I hope we can find the best possible settings, because we know that qualifying is very important”.
