“It made no sense”

« Giving DRS to Russell while I was fighting against Sainz? I don’t think this is a good idea. When they suggested it to me, I knew they had obviously thought about it since the last race but it didn’t make any sense. I had to run as far away as possible. And I was already on my way, I was about two seconds ahead and they asked me to give DRS to George » first explained Lewis Hamilton in comments reported by NextGen-Auto.

“It made it very, very difficult”

« So I had to cut the gas on the straight to put him 0.8 seconds behind. Then he got the DRS, but then he got overtaken, which was going to happen because he was on a single stop and too old tires. Carlos passed him and then he was right on my heels, so not ideal. This made it very, very difficult during the last two rounds. I think as a team we should be grateful for the fifth and seventh places. It’s better than the sixth and seventh » then indicated the pilot of Mercedeswho nevertheless considers himself happy to have finished fifth in Japan.
