F1: Leclerc expects heavy lifting and puts pressure on Ferrari

On Sunday, Ferrari achieved a great feat this season by being the first team to stop Red Bull’s crazy streak and its fourteen consecutive victories. Carlos Sainz also ended the hegemony of Max Verstappen, who had won the previous ten races, a record in Formula 1. Charles Leclerc, the other Ferrari driver, hopes that this glimpsed progress will continue next year, with as objective of beating Red Bull in length.

Last year, Charles Leclerc was the pilot who seemed capable of measuring himself against Red Bull et Max Verstappen, by winning two Grands Prix in the first three races. Afterwards, Ferrari ran out of breath and Max Verstappen quietly moved towards his second consecutive world champion title. This year, the Dutchman should, barring any cataclysm, make the pass of three. But Ferrari intends to prevent Verstappen to win a fourth title next year.

“I am 200% motivated to return to last year’s level”

During an interview given to l’AFP, Charles Leclerc talks about the current season: “ So far the big first part of the season has been tough, but I’m 200% motivated to get back to last year’s level with the car and fight for wins again, because that’s where Ferrari deserves to be. After the first race, we had to realize that we were not at the desired level. But there was a huge reaction from the team. We are aware that we have to make up for lost time. There is still a lot of work to do. It wasn’t easy to accept, but once accepted, we had to work to try to reduce the gap – especially with Red Bull. »
