In search of a midfielder during this winter transfer window, OL have not given up on Nemanja Matic, despite the refusal of Stade Rennais to sell the Serb to a Ligue 1 club.
After recruiting Lucas Perri, Adryelson and soon Malick Fofana, Olympique Lyonnais is looking for a midfielder during this winter transfer window. Ideally, Pierre Sage would like an experienced player to replace Corentin Tolisso and Maxence Caqueret as needed. Several players were targeted by the Lyon board and by the recruitment unit led by Matthieu Louis-Jean and David Friio. One name caught the attention of Rhone decision-makers, that of Nemanja Matic.
OL do not let go of Nemanja Matic
It must be said that the Serbian international ticks all the boxes. He knows Ligue 1 (recently), he has experience to spare… and he wants to leave Stade Rennais, the club he joined six months ago from AS Roma. Disappointed by the start of his adventure in Brittany, the former metronome of Manchester United and Chelsea wants to leave. His case interests several French clubs: OL but also OM, even if the Marseille club dropped the matter by favoring the Jean Onana track.

Certainly, Stade Rennais does not want to sell its best midfielder to another Ligue 1 club. That being said, Lyon has not given up on the matter and is still closely following the development of the matter according to Benjamin Quarez, journalist for The Parisian. “Nemanja Matic recently spoke with the shareholder. He always wants to leave. Stade Rennais, through Julien Stéphan, has already said several times that it wants him to stay. Lyon is the club that has really positioned itself for the moment” published the journalist on his account Serbian. A winning strategy? Everything will be decided or not at the end of the transfer window for Matic, whose profile is unanimous within the Lyon staff for this month of January.
