Puydebois validates Coupet’s comments on mentalities at OL

The day after Grégory Coupet’s attack on the mentality of the OL group, Nicolas Puydebois validated these changes compared to the older generation.

He is usually rather discreet when commenting on the situation at Olympique Lyonnais. Since his departure in the summer of 2020, Grégory Coupet has always been careful not to judge the downgrading of OL. Is this the arrival by Fabio Grosso at the head of the team and the presence of Sonny Anderson in the temporary staff who gave him ideas? In any case, on Sunday, the former goalkeeper and goalkeeper coach of the Rhone club was not very kind to the current group.

In reaction to a sequence filmed by Prime Video in which we can see Anderson bring together all the players at the end of the warm-up, Coupet cracked a sarcastic tweet. “Nice try Sonny but not sure that you are addressing a team of friends inclined to fight for each other for an institution that they respect…”

A proper attack while the mentality of the Lyon locker room has often been singled out in recent months and years. Monday, Fabio Grosso also placed a lot of emphasis on the notion of work and surpassing oneself to help OL return to the French summits. The thoughts of his former teammate and new coach, Nicolas Puydebois validates them 100%.

“I’m finally happy with this release because I feel like I’m still the old soldier talking about the old days, but we were winning titles with what Greg said, noted our consultant on the set of As long as there are Gone Monday. We were all good people, who were there for each other. We became friends before winning titles. We came to bring something to OL, we didn’t come to eat. (…) Today, players wear a jersey that they value without respecting it.”

The change in mentality, certainly one of Fabio Grosso’s priority projects in the coming weeks. Because from there will come a large part of Lyon’s salvation.
