The improbable rumor Pacheco to replace Marcelino

This Saturday evening, an Egyptian Youtuber claims that coach Jaime Pacheco wants to leave his club, Pyramids FC, in order to join Olympique de Marseille.

Marcelino resigned from Olympique de Marseille a few days ago following incidents with supporters. For the moment, no coach has arrived to replace him, it is Pancho Abardonado who is in charge. Youtuber Ramadan Hassan claims on his Twitter account this Saturday that the coach of Pyramids FC would have said that he wanted to leave his club after having received “an official offer” from OM. Information to be taken with a grain of salt since it seems unlikely to see the Portuguese land on the Marseille bench.

Longoria explains Marcelino’s departure

During an interview with the newspaper La Provence, the president of OM Pablo Longoria started by justifying the choice to bring in his friend Marcelino by his results in La Liga: “Marcelino is my friend, but he is a football coach. Take his latest experiences: at Villarreal, he took the team in the middle of the second division, took it up straight away and qualified it for the European Cup every season, to the point of playing a half -Europa League final against Liverpool (in 2016). He took Valencia 12th. During his first season, he finished 4th, with very good results, then 4th also the second season by winning the Coupe du Roi. He also played in a Europa League semi-final there. He then qualified Bilbao for the cup final and won the Super Cup. To say that I take a trainer because he is my friend is to disrespect me. I’m not here to bring in friends but to put the most competent people in place. He is leaving because, like us, he does not accept working in this context of threats. The voltage level is not acceptable. This is not normal on the 5th day of the championship (it repeats itself). This is not a sports question, nor a football question. We are talking about other, much stronger things. »
