Completely crazy match at the Stade du Hameau where many players shone on both sides during the victory of the Section Paloise against Bayonne with a score of 42 to 40. Jack Maddocks and Théo Attissogbe were sparkling.
The tops
Theo Attissogbe
The winger from the Pau Section was often in the right positions, particularly in the second half. He dove twice into the in-goal for just one try as the referee awarded a penalty try to the Béarnais on his first spectacular dive onto the corner post. He broke three tackles for a crossing.

Jack Maddocks
He perfectly launched the scenario of this completely crazy match by scoring an incredible try on a ball recovered after an opponent’s kicking play. The Australian full-back moved up the entire field, tearing the first curtain and then playing the last two defenders. Five broken tackles and a crossing for the one who as usual was perfect on the basis of his position.
Samuel Whitelock
He fought. The most capped All Black in history quickly understood that this confrontation was special, with a special commitment. He had to lay down the law in the rucks, particularly in the first half, clashing with several Bayonne players. He showed that he was also ready for the fight, notably recovering two ground balls.
Les flops
Matthew Carreras
A timid first match for the man who often crossed the field during the last World Cup with Argentina. He didn’t have a bad match (despite two missed tackles) but he was little used offensively in a match that was nevertheless open, before coming to ask for the ball a little more at the end of the match and finally scoring a try after the siren .

Thomas Ceyte
He is often the man who leads Rowing Bayonnais into combat. He was less efficient than usual, with only five tackles including one missed, but also a penalty whistled against him. It wasn’t a bad performance in a match where it was difficult to see flops but the second row of Bayonne was unable to stand out.
