Before starting this World Cup, Steve Borthwick’s men were not really in the best of their form and were not spared from criticism. The English, however, started their World Cup in style with a first victory against Argentina. So, have we buried this XV of the Rose a little too quickly?
England have had a bit of a complicated past few months, which inevitably left room for questions about their ability to compete in the World Cup. The English were therefore eagerly awaited but silenced the bad tongues at the opening of this World Cup. By winning against Argentina, this XV de la Rose showed that it had not said its last word.
It remains to be seen what this will look like when leaving the groups, if we consider that England qualifies for the quarter-final (which remains probable given the English group is not very strong: Japan, Argentina, Samoa, Chile) .
