Foot OL – OL: European Cup week, Aulas puffs out his chest – Olympique Lyonnais

OL are going through dark times at the moment. 16th in Ligue 1 without the slightest success after 5 days, the Lyonnais are far from their elders of the great Aulas years. The success of the OL Aulas version can still be seen today as the C1 has regained its rights.

Tuesday, Wednesday and even Thursday without OL, Lyon supporters have become accustomed to it now. The 2000s are over when OL were the leading lights of French football in Europe. This is the third time in four years that the Rhone club has missed the European Cup. This may not change in the years to come since the Lyonnais are languishing in 16th place in Ligue 1 for the moment. John Textor had however promised to put OL back in the Champions League at the end of this season. Promises that make Jean-Michel Aulas smile, never short of barbs towards the American.

The number 1 French OL in Europe is Aulas

The former Lyon president took advantage of a statistical publication from Prime Video to come out of the woods. The Ligue 1 broadcaster recalled on its X account the number of European participations by French clubs. Despite its current setbacks, OL still dominates the ranking with 36 European seasons ahead of Bordeaux and OM (34), then Monaco and PSG (32). A post instantly retweeted by Jean-Michel Aulas, who added a little message along the way to try to recall his results and clear himself of the recent difficulties since 2020.

Not sure that this will still boost the morale of OL supporters, who prefer to see good work from Fabio Grosso and John Textor in the coming months.
