F1: “Terrible”, Verstappen lets go after his ordeal

This Saturday, Max Verstappen looked crumbly during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix. The Dutchman from Red Bull finished 11th in this session, in which he was often put in difficulty. While the Austrian team has achieved a flawless performance this season, Verstappen claimed to have experienced an ordeal, and not to feel confident for the race this Sunday.

Thunderclap in Formula 1 ! Victorious 12 times, out of 14 Grand Prix contested this season, Max Verstappen could finally waver this Sunday at Singapore. Eliminated in Q2 during qualifying this Saturday, the reigning double world champion will only start 11th on the starting grid, and he is very pessimistic about the outcome of this Grand Prix…

” I did not expect that “

In comments relayed by Motorsport.com, Max Verstappen appeared incredulous after qualifying practice at Singapore. “I knew it was already going to be hard to put her on pole, but I didn’t expect that. We were in difficulty throughout the weekend. I think FP3 didn’t go too bad, but then we tried a few more things on the car for qualifying, and it was too much: the car became undriveable again, with huge tailgating in the braking zones ».

“It’s a terrible experience”

“I was sliding a lot in all the turns”continues Max Verstappen. “I lost a lot of front grip. In each big braking zone, I was tailing a lot, which caused the front tires to lose load. So I couldn’t hit the brakes the way I wanted, I needed a very gentle approach, otherwise the car would lower too much, and that doesn’t work on a street circuit. It was really, really difficult. I don’t think there’s much we can do. Here it will surely be a stop if nothing crazy happens. To overtake you have to be much faster, and I don’t think we are. It’s a terrible experience.”.
